20 Minute Poem

2014 05 30 – Cahoots Festival poetry workshop

Protection for a dwelling-place
Threatened by the human race
Lord of hearth & home, erase
The breaking of our land.

Sisters, brothers, aunties, all
Gathered in our mournful hall
Praying you will hear our call
And save us by your hand.

Laughing bravely, we persist
Clenching teeth and opening fist
Any means we can enlist
Nonviolence Your command

Brothers, kinfolk, cousins, too
How can this be what you do?
You are us, and we are you!
One family by God’s demand.

We believe that by this sign;
Suffering to hold the line
We will win you; heart and mind
Help you understand.
