The Student Christian Movement of Canada is part of the World Student Christian Federation, an ecumenical and justice-focused gathering.
I’ve volunteered in various capacities with the SCM of Canada since arriving in Turtle Island. Most significantly I helped to create the first Cahoots festival in 2014, and I’ve been involved each year since. I also served on the Personnel committee for a few years, meaning that when I was asked to apply to be the General Secretary (National Coordinator) I was aware of the difficulties and joys of the position!
SCM does some great work provoking students and young people connected with the church into engaging with justice issues, developing skills in organising and activism, and learning in a global and ecumenical context.
